Shaluo Village School Kitchen
Shaluo school provides preschool through 6th grade education for children
from the surrounding village of over 1000 homes. The education department
has already constructed a new cafeteria building for the school, but the project
doesn’t include furnishings such as cooking equipment, dishes, or seating. So,
we helped the school purchase much needed cooking equipment that helps
them prepare better meals more efficiently.
In the past meals were very limited due to the labor intensive manner of
preparation. With this new equipment he school is able to provide well-
rounded meals more efficiently.
Old “Kitchen”
The new equipment arrived and was quickly put to use.
Old Sink
The old kitchen sink was not only inadequate, but unhygienic.

Moving Day
The new equipment was moved by students and volunteers into the school
kitchen.
Refrigerator
Lack of refrigeration means daily trips to the fresh meat and vegetable market.
This is time the staff could not afford. The new refrigerator will hold enough
fresh meat and produce for several days of meals saving time and expense.
Rice
The new rice steaming cabinet can steam enough rice for the entire student
population at one time.
New Sterilizer
The sterilizer will sanitize all of the eating utensils at one time.

Work Area
The new kitchen has large, clean work surfaces on which to prepare meals. A
much needed improvement.
