Student Sponsorship Project

You can help a child from a rural farming village attend school for just $11/month.  That amount will supplement the student's tuition and book fees.  We sponsored 46 children for the '06-'07 school year, 56 children for the '07-'08 school year and plan to sponsor 50 students in the '09-'10 school year.   In addition, we want to continue assistance to each student through high school and need on-going support for the project.

The number of students was decreased for this '09-'10 school year in order to provide additional assistance to middle and high school students where the need is greatest.  The government pays for tuition, room and board through 6th grade, tuition only through 9th grade, and no assistance in high school.  Therefore, families with multiple children in middle and high school have a significant financial burden.  We hope to help these families keep their children in school.

Please see photos of the '07-'08 Student Sponsorship Ceremony.

Please consider helping these students break out of the cycle of poverty through your generous gift.  We will provide regular updates on student  progress.  You can donate directly to this project by going to the IDEAS website.  Thank you.

Project Outline

Due to the poor economy and illiteracy rate among the rural Nosu, family incomes are very low; too low, in fact, to afford the tuition necessary for their children to attend school.  This project will provide tuition for as many as 60 individual students based on their need.  To goal is to fund children from elementary school through high school.  Children will enter the program at various ages depending on their need and history.  Through education we hope to stop the cycle of poverty and provide a future and hope for many children.
